A document's language comes first
A record issued in a French-speaking country may contain French, another language, or a mixture of both. Send the document itself so we can review the text. This is especially useful when you are unsure whether a record from Haiti is written in French or Haitian Creole.
Our Haitian Creole guide covers requests for that language. If your papers contain both languages, explain which documents belong together when you contact us.
Include the notes around the main record
French birth and marriage records, divorce documents, school certificates, and other civil papers may include handwritten notes, later additions, or attached pages. These details should be visible in the copy you send. A tightly cropped image can leave out information that belongs in the translation.
For school documents, include the full transcript and any page explaining abbreviations or grades. Tell us what the receiving school has requested. A translation presents the text in English; a separate evaluation of a qualification may be a different service that the school asks for.
Keep the request straightforward
Share your deadline, the English spelling of names used on related records, and any instructions for the completed document. We confirm the scope, page count, and timing before starting your certified translation.
For digital delivery, you receive a scanned copy of the signed certification with the translation. An original paper copy with the wet-ink signature is available through a Columbus handoff by arrangement.

My document is from Haiti. Should I choose French or Haitian Creole?
Send a clear copy rather than choosing based only on the country of issue. We will review the actual language on the page and confirm the request with you.
Should a handwritten note in the margin be included?
Yes. Include the complete margins and any writing on the reverse side. Let us review all visible text that forms part of the record.
Will translating my diploma also evaluate my qualification?
Translation and credential evaluation are different tasks. Share the receiving organization’s instructions so the translation request is clear, and check with that organization if it also requires an evaluation.
